WHAT I DID OVER SUMMER VACATION
My Summer Vacation was, most of the time quite boring. We watched television, saw friends sometimes, and relaxed. The corona-pocalypse prevented us from going to our grandparents and doing too much outside of our house. Usually we went places all the time. My birthday fell into Summer Vacation and some friends and I went to Dairy Queen and the Movie Theater in Alabaster to watch Wonder Woman. It was a bit… dramatic.
The big thing that our family did was we went on our first trip with friends. We were going to my grandparent’s house in North Carolina. When we got there, we unpacked and went out to the brewery for dinner. The brewery is a basically a burger place that crafts and makes its own beer. They also make their own root beer. A lot of the time we were up there we were just playing running games inside. The running games included run away from Juda, tag, and a game that E.J and Juda made up. Sometimes we went to a waterfall. We went to the first one and that was my favorite. There was plenty of room to explore and the water was ice cold. My feet were numb half the time! We had a ton of boat races out of leaves. I quit because they were tearing up the tree and that made me a little upset.
The highlight of our trip was the boat. When we rented a boat and a tube we headed out on the water. I was very cold. We went tubing for a while and then pulled up to and island to have our lunch. It was fun to watch the waves bob us up and down in the water, causing a slight breeze. After we finished our sandwiches we didn’t have much time left, so we went to a little cove to swim. My friend and I used the tube all the way there… and we fell off at the end. Getting back to the boat was wrecked my nerves and made me very tired. I was nervous that a shark would come up and bite my feet right off. While I was getting on I cut myself on the ladder on my toe. Much to our dismay, the time we had was not enough to swim so we watched the ducks as my dad drove us away. Mom and I were on the tube most of the way back. The day after that was our last full day. We went to a bunch of different waterfalls. The first one we went to was a massive waterfall that had a sidewalk running behind it. I loved the feeling of the water being sprayed in my face. After that we drove around, looking for another place to explore, and we found a bridge. We went under the bridge and found… nothing… but we did name the area “itchy armpit”. We saw some kid fly fishing on the other side and we decided to cross the bridge and see what was over there. As we moved deeper into itchy armpit, we found multiple trails. We wandered down them all. Finally we found the trail that led to the mythical fly fisher. Around that area we found some really neat rocks. Once we got back into the car we drove for a while trying to find lunch. We found this really cool BBQ place that had a bible verse on the menu. It was really good food. We then went to gem mine. We had two buckets a family! I got some really neat things and a lot of it could make me lots of money if I decided to cut them. I got ruby, quarts, sapphire, aventurine, topaz, moonstone, amethyst, and aquamarine. It was really neat. After that, we went to the Malone home and had dinner. The next day we were packed and ready to roll. We left and had a very uneventful ride home.
